Oral Sedation
Enteral Sedation
A moderate level of sedation can be achieved through the use of pills. Medications administered via this route are generally members of the benzodiazepine family, the most familiar of which is Valium. These medications produce a feeling of relaxation, drowsiness, and in some cases, amnesia. Nitrous-Oxide/Oxygen can be safely used in conjunction with oral sedation to supplement the effects. Patients undergoing sedation via this method will require an escort to and from their appointment.
